Overview

July 6 - 13, 2014

The Edmonton and District Historical Society is proud to present the annual Historic Festival & Doors Open Edmonton, an exciting showcase of the rich history of greater Edmonton.

This year's Historic Festival & Doors Open Edmonton is focused on the history of the many cultures found in the Edmonton area and celebrates the heritage events that have enriched our community. Visitors can enjoy a variety of events, such as celebrating community milestones; exploring museums, archives and historic sites; and participating in bus or walking tours of gardens, natural areas, cemeteries and neighbourhoods.

All Historic Festival and Doors Open Edmonton activities take place in the Greater Edmonton area.

Special Launch July 6th:  Many Voices, Many Stories, One City

The Launch of the 18th annual Historic Festival and Doors Open this year will be a fabulous opportunity to tell your story of coming to and making your home in Edmonton.  Ethno-cultural organizations are encouraged to present the story of their immigration to and settlement in Edmonton, community development in the city, involvement in city life, and contributions to the larger community.  We know visitors to this special event will develop an appreciation of the importance of diversity in our history, and the contributions individual groups have made and are making to the development of our city.
